Nord.
Following the Øst-collection comes Nord. This tableware series consists of exclusively thrown objects. Each piece is carefully decorated by hand with colored slips and textures reminiscent of the rough surfaces of rocks, trees and frozen tundras of the far north.
Its shapes and forms carry references to forms found in traditional Sami arts and crafts, Duodji, more specifically the traditional handcarved wooden cups called Guksi. These cups are commonly used in northern Europe by Sami people and the population at large while travelling in nature.
The collection brings together these references to the traditions and nature of the north, to create a tableware collection with the rustic cuisine of Scandinavia in mind. Plates for meats, vegetables and bread, bowls for steamy stews and cups for hot drinks, all made to rest comfortably in your hands during use.
The collection is still under production, but the webshop will be regularly updated with new batches throughout 2019.
Cappuccino (130 ml) and espresso (80 ml) cups in white stoneware clay with a green and blue glaze. Produced in collaboration with Norwegian Barista Champion of 2016, Lise Marie Rømo, of Kaffa Oslo in january 2019.
The cups were ultimately used by barista Alexander Monsen in the Barista National Championchips 2019, where he earned 3rd place in the competition.
Øst.
A collection of tableware produced in 2018 consisting of thrown and handbuilt objects with a variety of self-developed satin and glossy glazes.
Both color and form are used to make each piece intentionally unique, alluding to Japanese pottery techniques like raku and old philosophies like wabi sabi, treasuring the qualities found in imperfection and unpredictability.
Inspired by eastern ceramics and cuisine, this collection is designed for sharing big spreads of food and flavors in a social setting. Bowls of all sizes, unique handbuilt chopstick rests, sake sets with cups and bottles, handbuilt platters and spoons create the perfect set up for a variety of dishes and drinks.
The collection is sold out and out of production for the time being.
